There is nothing we can do to change the past. It is what it is, but that past does not have to dictate our future. We have the ability to move forward and never look back. We do not believe addiction is a blatant choice, no one wakes up one day and decides to become addicted. However, we do know that one good decision can put you on the path to healing and freedom. Yes, freedom.
Oftentimes, we have quite the list of experiences or circumstances that build a case against us in our own minds. We have gone too far, done too much, too much has been done to us, or a combination of them all. A case that is condemning and hard to argue with, when we don't know the whole truth. However, that list cannot hold up against what God says in His Word. I have come to know this as truth, in John 10:10 Jesus states, "I have come that they may have life, and have it in abundance."
Part of this new beginning is to renew our minds. Over the years, others may have said things about us that sounded true and may have even lined up with the circumstance at the time. We also may have said things about ourselves over the years, that simply are not true. In short, we have accepted things we were never meant to believe about ourselves.
God has so many things to say about who we are, and none of them are condemning or belittling. It's hard to argue with what the Creator says about us, since our Creator is the only one who can define us.
Zoe will help to undo the damage that has been done, and through scripture we will renew minds with the truth of who we were created to be.
